This is going to help evenly distribute the weight of your trailer over the axles of your tow vehicle and your trailer for more stability and control. So, basically, rather than just having that one connection point where your coupler sits on your hitch ball, that is going to, oftentimes, cause the rear end of your vehicle, your tow vehicle, to sag down, and that can cause a lot of strain on your rear suspension system, so this is going to provide two extra attachment points to the frame of your trailer, and then these spring bars are going to create tension that's going to help lift that up and spread that weight evenly across all your axles, make sure that everything is right level like it should. And this is going to have that tension that's going to act as a sway control as well to make sure that your trailer isn't going to be swaying as you're going down the road. Now, this is designed specifically for your bottom mounted couplers, so the couplers that are mounted on the bottom of your trailer frame, they're sometimes called underslung couplers, so it is gonna be slightly different from the systems that are designed for the couplers that sit on top of your frames, so make sure that you're getting the right one for you. more

Now, this is a premium weight distribution system that you can see I've got it set up on my trailer display here but the black powder coat portion is the 3P. So, this is going to function very similar to most weight distribution system. So I'm gonna cover that here in a few moments, but where this really stands out is it sway control capabilities. So unlike most of your weight distribution systems that have sway control, they typically use friction to help try and keep the trailer in line so you'll have your spring bars like we have here and we'll just be sitting on a steel platform so they're relying on that steel on steel friction to create that sway control and that's gonna work up to a certain point to help keep your trailer in line but if you have really big gusts of wind, a tractor trailer comes by something big like that, it can oftentimes overtax that friction capabilities. more

So if you're towing anything with a bumper pull system or that hitch that's at the back of your vehicle, this is going to be the greatest way to make sure that you get the most out of your hitch. If it's rated for a weight distribution and also your vehicle is rated for a weight distribution. You do want to check that, because not all of them are. Now this is going to be a great option for those of you who maybe haul some smaller trailers. Even with your smaller trailers, you'll notice that as you put the weight in, all that weight is going onto your ball mount on your vehicle, which can cause the backside of your vehicle to kind of sag down. That's got several different side effects, one, the front end will probably come up causing your headlights to be in the eyes of oncoming traffic. It can also cause your steering to be kind of light there on the front end, as that weight is lifted up, your tires don't get as much traction. more

Today we're going to take a look at the Reese Trunnion Bar Weight Distribution System without the shank. It has a 10,000-pound gross towing weight capacity and an 800-pound tongue-weight capacity. Now this is a nice high-performance system, which is designed to offer the best in weight distribution with the easy-to-adjust forged head, nice raised ball platform and the flexible powder-coated steel trunnion spring bars.Now the tongue weight rating is your most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. Basically, if the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they'll create a rigid ride which can result in a bouncing trailer. And on the other hand, if the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless. So to determine the proper weight rating for weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight, then add the weight of any cargo that's behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle.Combine those two and that'll make up your tongue-weight rating for a weight distribution system. more

They're trying to figure out which is going to be the best weight distribution system for themNow, there are a few different types of weight distribution out there. The more basic set is something similar to like a CURT MV Set up. Just going to be your Trunnion bars that come back, no friction sway control whatsoever, you actually have to add that on secondary, and with that system you can't back up, so it's kind of an older more antiquated system.A lot of the systems, this one is the one we're looking at today.
